8th Solid-State NMR Workshop at CSC 2013

The National Ultrahigh-Field NMR Facility for Solids and Bruker Canada are pleased to present the 8th Annual Solid-State NMR Workshop at the 96th Canadian Chemistry Conference and Exhibition in Quebec City (CSC 2013). The workshop will take place Sunday, May 26, 2013, 13:00 - 19:00, in the Québec City Convention Centre.

This annual Canadian solid-state NMR event focuses on the latest developments in solid-state NMR spectroscopy with emphasis on practical aspects and applications in materials and life sciences. The workshop will be of interest not only to NMR spectroscopists, but also to students and other researchers interested in using modern NMR techniques in their research practice.

ICMRM-12: 12th International Conference on Magnetic Resonance Microimaging

25th-29th August 2013, Fitzwilliam College, University of Cambridge, UK

The chairs and organising committee are pleased to announce the first call for abstracts for ICMRM12, to be held at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, UK. Detailed information about the conference and abstract submission can be found at http://www.ceb.cam.ac.uk/ICMRM12

Location The conference will be held in the historic City of Cambridge at Fitzwilliam College, one of the 28 undergraduate colleges of the University of Cambridge. The conference dinner will be held in the Great Hall at Trinity College. Cambridge is within easy reach of London (50 mins by train from King’s Cross station) and its major airports and is even closer to Stansted Airport (30 mins by train).

Provisional Programme ICMRM12 will open with an education session on Sunday 25th August 2013 at 11:00 am and will close on Thursday 29th August 2013 at 5:00pm. In addition to oral and poster sessions, there will be plenary speakers as well as keynote presentations by a number of invited speakers. There will also be a session dedicated to the Colloquium on Mobile NMR (CMMR).

Four nonequivalent magnesium sites with very similar local Mg environments in a Mg-containing metal–organic framework, microporous α-Mg3(HCOO)6, have been resolved by 25Mg natural-abundance triple-quantum magic-angle spinning (3QMAS) NMR spectroscopy at an ultrahigh magnetic field of 21.1 T.

Call for Nominations: 2013 EAS New Faculty Award in NMR Spectroscopy

The Eastern Analytical invites nominations for an EAS New Faculty Award in NMR Spectroscopy. The Award will be presented at the 2013 Eastern Analytical Symposium. The Award, sponsored by Agilent Technologies, Inc., recognizes outstanding contributions by new faculty to the development of the field of NMR spectroscopy (broadly defined). To qualify for the award, candidates must at the time of the award hold a position as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in an academic institution in the US or Canada and be within 10 years of completing their terminal research degree. An Award winner will receive a certificate as well as $2,000 and will deliver an award lecture at a dedicated EAS session.

Persons who wish to make a nomination for the EAS New Faculty Award in NMR Spectroscopy should send complete documentation of the candidate (nominating letter summarizing achievements, curriculum vita or resume, a statement of the nominee’s willingness to present an address as part of the award symposium, and at least one seconding letter). The length of the nomination packet should be commensurate with the nominee’s accomplishments, but should be limited to ten to fifteen pages. The deadline for the 2013 Award is May 1, 2013. The Awardee will be selected by the EAS NMR Awards Committee and notified by July 1, 2013.

Raymond Andrew Prize 2013 - Call for nominations

Call for Nominations for the Raymond Andrew Prize for an outstanding PhD thesis in the field of magnetic resonance. 

For the Raymond Andrew Prize 2013 the AMPERE Prize Committee is seeking your help in searching for qualified candidates who completed their dissertation during the period of 2011/2012. The prize will be presented during the EUROMAR 2013 in Hersonissos, Crete (Greece) from June 30th to July 5th 2013.

You are kindly invited to submit nominations by e-mail to [andrewprize "at" nmr.phys.chem.ethz.ch]

Suggestions must be received by 15th February 2013 and should include the following documents:

• Nomination letter

• Curriculum vitae
• List of publications and presentations at conferences
• PhD thesis in PDF

The thesis should be written in English. In exceptional cases, the thesis may also be submitted in triplicate as a hardcopy to the AMPERE Secretariat. Please note that the nomination letter cannot be written by the candidate herself or himself. Submissions that arrive too late will automatically be transferred to the next year. The prize committee will reconsider excellent contributions for two years in a row.
